R&D Project Manager

D-ICE Engineering is a deep-tech company founded in 2015 in Nantes. Our mission is to address three major challenges in the maritime sector: reducing the carbon footprint, enhancing safety at sea, and promoting clean energy production. To achieve this, we rely on a diverse range of expertise, including multiphysics simulation, scientific software development, marine engineering, and advanced navigation systems.

Today, the company has approximately 40 engineers and PhDs specializing in hydrodynamics, applied mathematics, robotics, control systems, and software engineering.

In 2024, D-ICE successfully raised €6 million in funding, marking a significant milestone in accelerating the commercialization of high-impact solutions for the maritime industry, thereby contributing to a more sustainable and decarbonized future.

As an R&D Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of projects led by the company, sometimes in collaboration with high-level academic and industrial partners. In this role, you will:

• Coordinate R&D projects while ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and technical objectives;
• Develop project schedules (GANTT, workload planning) and provide reporting to various stakeholders;
• Draft technical deliverables, research reports, responses to calls for proposals, and scientific communications;
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, both internal and external (partners, laboratories, shipyards, engineering firms);
• Contribute to technology watch efforts and the emergence of new innovation topics;
• Act as the liaison with funding bodies (public/private) and ensure the proper administrative follow-up of projects.

Your Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent in naval architecture, marine engineering, or related fields (fluid mechanics, numerical simulation, etc.);

Your Skills

• Strong command of project management tools (Gantt charts, workload planning, reporting, etc.);
• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and structure complex documents;
• Autonomy, rigor, organizational skills, and a strong ability to work collaboratively;
• Excellent command of English is essential (spoken and written);
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D project management, ideally in the maritime or industrial sector;
